Photos from Fiestas de San Fermín, Pamplona

Spain is known for celebrating its fiestas populares at a scale that not many countries can compete with. Fiestas de San Fermin, that took place from July 6th - July 13th 2005, is certainly one of the biggest and wildest of them all. At eight o´clock every morning during the festival six bulls are let loose in the streets so that the most daring men and women can test their courage running in front of the bulls on a 850 m long distance to the bull arena. As the photos show Fiestas de San Fermín is a lot more than bulls. It is indeed a strange blend of religious ceremonies, drinking orgy and worship of the bull-cult.
